Be the Good in the World

On Wednesday, Oct. 7th, Rotary Club of Andover volunteers and friends served at the Lazarus House Ministries Food Pantry, helping keep the line moving for 1,818 neighbors in need.

Special thanks to Al and Maureen Ruthazer, Jim Greeley, Mike Wartman, and Al Timm for giving their time.

Al's shirt said it best: “Be the Good in the World.” A perfect reminder of why we show up.

Lazarus House often needs extra hands on Wednesdays (10 AM–Noon, Noon–2 PM, or the full 10 AM–2 PM shift). You don’t have to be a Rotarian—consider bringing your company, organization, family, or friends for a service day.

Sometimes being the good is as simple as showing up.

An update from Vinnytsia Regional Hospital

In September 2026, the endoscopy system funded by our club performed 110 procedures:

  • ERCP / Duodenoscopy – 49
  • Gastroscopy – 26
  • Colonoscopy – 20
  • Bronchoscopy – 15

These included stone extraction, biliary stenting, polypectomy, biopsy, and other therapeutic interventions. The minimally invasive approach helped shorten hospital stays, speed recovery, and reduce the need for more invasive surgery.

The equipment was also used to train two medical interns under specialist supervision and so far this year, they have treated 409 patients with the equipment provided.

Thank you to everyone who supported this project—the system continues to improve patient care and medical education in Ukraine.
