ANDOVER ROTARY AUCTION, 2001
by DeeDee O'Brien

The Rotary Auction was fun
From the moment it was begun!
Everyone played
Then everyone paid
And now the work is all done.

Everyone worked in their nook
Doing their job by the book
Matt’s speech was great
Our guests weren’t late
And so no need for the hook!

All night there was only one snare
(When Jim Sutton fell off his chair!)
The show moved along
And thanks to Dave’s gong
We’re all here, and not still there!

We all wondered who was that fellow
Bare-chested and oh-so-mellow
Diana made clear
He wasn’t to fear
As she pummeled him black, blue and yellow

On the night there wasn’t a cloud
Straw hats added class to the crowd
When we all stood and sang
My heart gave a pang
I know Marie would have been proud!

Howard, our leader, never showed stress!
Though at times he was under duress
But it ran as it should,
As we all knew it would.
The result - another success!
!
